Armoring Process

The Process of Armoring a Car

Mouse over the different parts of the process for more information about that specific point in the complete armoring process.

Delivery
Once a contract has been made with HPC, the customer arranges for the delivery of the vehicle to one of our 6 locations. HPC can help the customer find local transport companies, but is not responsible for the actual delivery of the vehicle.

Entry Inspection
Once the vehicle arrives at the factory, one of our engineers makes a full inspection of the vehicle in order to assure no damage was sustained during delivery. Any damage or changes to the vehicle are photographed and emailed with full description to the customer.

Disassembly
In order for the armor to be inserted into the vehicle, the vehicle is disassembled piece by piece. Each piece is individually wrapped and labeled and placed in a storage unit specifically for that vehicle. The rest of the vehicle’s exterior body panels are wrapped in order to protect them from any bumps or scratches.

Welding
Depending upon whether the customer chooses composite materials or ballistic steel, the entire passenger compartment is sealed with armor. This includes the pillars, the floor, the ceiling, the wheel wells, the gas tank, the firewall, and the doors. An overlap system is also welded into place in order to prevent angled shots into the passenger compartment. Run Flat inserts from Flats Over are installed on all five tires.

Electrical
HPC has a large list of optional equipment that can be added to the vehicle besides the upgraded window motors used to lift the ballistic glass. From sirens, lights, and electrified door handles to smoke generators, PA systems, and satellite communication. Our engineers install these custom security features and integrate them seamlessly with the armor in place.

Glass
All of the ballistic glass comes from a factory that is owned by HPC. This ensures the quality and the consistency of the glass used in the vehicles. The glass is certified in multiple countries as well as going through a rigorous testing process at the factory itself. All of the glass is made exactly the same style, shape, and size as the original and custom-fitted into the vehicle.

Assembly
The vehicle is reassembled with the original equipment and pieces and fitted over the armor. This results in the maintenance of the original exterior and interior’s look, feel, and luxury. The vehicle itself will appear as if it went through no change at all.

Final Inspection
Before the customer picks up the finished vehicle, one of our engineers goes through a 198 point check list and looks for any possible damage caused by the armoring process. All repairs are made before the vehicle is sent to the vehicle’s manufacturer service center for a full inspection of the original parts of the vehicle.
